Animal Husbandries and Animals Welfare

Domestic animal population are in a sizable  manner in Karaikal region. In this region there is one veterinary Hospital and 6 Veterinary dispensary are functioning under the control of the Animal Husbandry Animal Welfare Department. The main motto of the department is to  increase the   poultry farms, increase cattle population, increase milk production. The efforts taken up by the department has resulted in the setting up of various Co-operative milk societies in Karaikal region and milk needs of this region is largely met by this society.  Various subsidy schemes are in operation to encourage the people to enhance the animal production.
