Power

The Electricity Department functioning under the supervision  of Executive Engineer is catering the power needs of Karaikal region both industrial and domestic needs of the people. The power is being drawn from Tiruvarur grid of Tamilnadu. With a view to reduce our dependency to Tamilnadu, a separate Gas Power Plant has been set up at T.R.Pattinam with a capacity of 32.5 MW  in the name of Pondicherry Power Corporation Limited. more over a Sub station is also functioning at Pillaitheruvasal with a capacity of 110/122MW. The Electricity Department is taking steps to distribute the power purchased from Tamilnadu and the power drawn from PPCL to the consumers and ensure uninterrupted power supply to the general public  by attending complaints received from  them  at shortest period of time.
